What to Do After a Crypto Scam in Taiwan
A practical response checklist for stopping further loss, preserving transaction evidence, contacting exchanges, and using Taiwan's official 165 reporting channel.
Stop further loss before investigating
Do not send another payment for tax, margin, verification, unlocking, or recovery. The immediate goal is to stop new losses, not to negotiate with the person who requested the transfer.
If an exchange account, email account, or phone may be compromised, change passwords from a trusted device, revoke unknown API keys, and enable multi-factor authentication.
Preserve evidence that can disappear
Blockchain records are usually public, but chats, accounts, websites, and advertisements can disappear quickly. Keep original exports and files instead of saving only selected screenshots.
- Transaction hash (TxID), chain, asset, amount, and time for every transfer
- Your wallet address and the destination address
- Complete chat export, website URL, account IDs, phone numbers, and advertisements
- Bank or exchange receipts, emails, and notifications
Build a reviewable timeline
Record when contact began, what was promised, when each payment happened, which platform was used, and where the asset was sent. Keep one transaction per row and do not mix different chains or incidents.

Contact exchanges and Taiwan official channels
If a path appears to reach a centralized exchange, provide its security or compliance team with the TxID, source, destination, and police report information. The platform and authorities decide whether an account can be restricted under their procedures.
In Taiwan, call 165 or use the official 165 Anti-Fraud website reporting entry. If an account is still at risk, notify the relevant bank or exchange immediately.
